Withdrawal, Corrections, and Retraction
Withdrawal of Submission
- The authors can withdraw studies submitted to our journal through the Journal management system by stating the reason until they are accepted for publication.
- In accordance with the copyright agreement confirmed by the authors, authors can not withdraw accepted manuscripts before they are published.
- For published works, authors can send a Withdrawal Notification to the official e-mail address of our journal after the manuscript is published. The notification should be made to [email protected] as an email sent by the email addresses that they used in the submission system.
- The e-mail subject should be "Withdrawal Notification." The e-mail should include a signed and scanned or electronically signed "Petition for Withdrawal" signed by all authors.
- After the Withdrawal Notification, the Retraction process is performed through the system for the manuscripts that are deemed appropriate to be withdrawn by the Editorial Board. In this case, the system will automatically add the word withdrawn to the title of the published manuscript and a withdrawn watermark will be added to the full-text file of the article.
- The forthcoming issue of the Journal will include the "Withdrawal Notice" of the manuscript and the links for the withdrawn manuscript will be directed to the "Withdrawal Notice."
Correction, Erratum, and Retraction Policies
The Turkish Journal of Sense of Place and Urban Studies upholds the principles of integrity and transparency in academic publishing. In alignment with the best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), we maintain the following policies to address post-publication issues such as corrections, errata, and retractions:
1. Corrections
Purpose: Corrections address minor errors in published articles that do not alter the validity of the research findings or conclusions but require amendment to improve clarity, accuracy, or readability (e.g., typographical mistakes, incorrect figures, or author affiliations).
Procedure:
- Authors, readers, or editors may report errors to the editorial office at [email protected]
- The editorial team will evaluate the report and determine whether a correction notice is necessary.
- If approved, corrections will be published as a standalone notice in the next available issue and permanently linked to the original article online.
- A note will accompany the corrected article, specifying the date and nature of the correction.
2. Errata
Purpose: Errata are issued for significant errors introduced during the editorial or production process (e.g., typesetting, formatting, or publisher errors) that impact the presentation of the research but not its scientific validity.
Procedure:
- Errata may be identified by the authors, editors, or readers and reported to the editorial office.
- The editorial team will assess the issue and determine whether an erratum is required.
- Errata are published as a notice in a subsequent issue, with a clear explanation of the error and a correction linked to the original article.
3. Retractions
Purpose: Retractions are issued to correct the scholarly record when a published article is found to contain serious flaws, fraudulent data, or ethical breaches that undermine the validity of its findings. Retractions are issued based on COPE’s retraction guidelines.
Procedure:
- Retractions may be initiated by the authors, editors, or concerns raised by readers.
- The editorial board will conduct a thorough investigation, consulting COPE resources as necessary, and seek input from relevant stakeholders (e.g., reviewers or affiliated institutions).
- A retraction notice will be published, linked to the original article, and include the following details:
- The reason for retraction.
- Identification of the article, with a clear "Retracted" watermark added to the PDF version.
- A statement clarifying whether the issue arose from honest error, misconduct, or other causes.
Important Note: Retractions are issued to correct the scientific record and ensure its integrity, not to penalize authors.
