Submission Process Overview

The submission process for the Turkish Journal of Sense of Place and Urban Studies is designed to be thorough yet efficient. Below is a step-by-step guide to our submission and review process:

  1. Submission through Journal Management System

    • Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's online management system.
  2. Editor Assignment and Initial Editorial Review

    • The submission is assigned to an editor, who conducts an initial editorial review. This step is completed within a maximum of 15 days.
  3. Editorial Decision to Proceed to Double-Blind Peer Review

    • Based on the initial review, the editor decides whether the manuscript should be sent for double-blind peer review.

    • If Yes:

      • The manuscript is sent for peer review.
    • If No:

      • The authors are notified of the decision along with the reasons, such as high similarity rate, lack of originality, or insufficient contribution to the field.
  4. Reviewer Invitation

    • Reviewer invitations are sent to at least two experts through the Journal Management System. Reviewers have a maximum of 14 days to accept the invitation.

    • If Invitation is Accepted:

      • The first round of review begins, with reviewers given up to 30 days to complete their evaluations.
    • If Invitation is Rejected or Not Responded To:

      • A new reviewer invitation is sent, restarting the process for a new reviewer.
  5. Review Process (Round 1)

    • The first round of peer review takes place, and reviewers provide their feedback and recommendations within 30 days.
  6. Editorial Decision Post-Review

    • After the review, the editor makes a decision based on the reviewers' feedback.

    • If Revisions are Required:

      • The manuscript is returned to the authors for revision, with a maximum of 30 days allocated for authors to make the necessary changes.
    • If the Manuscript is Rejected:

      • The manuscript is rejected, and the authors are informed of the decision and the reasons behind it.
    • If Accepted for Publication:

      • The manuscript is accepted, and the process moves to the production stage.
  7. Second Round of Review (if needed)

    • If substantial revisions are required, the manuscript may undergo a second round of review, following the same process as the first round.
  8. Production and Early View Publication

    • Once accepted, the manuscript is copyedited and formatted for publication. An author proof file is produced, and the manuscript is prepared for early view publication. This process also has a defined timeline to ensure timely publication.
